September 11th, 2010 Crawford Flight!

Photobucket
Since I'm locally groundbound due to sub-freezing temps and snowed-in launches, I used some computer time to create a 'blog posting from September 11th, 2010...The mid-day light and fickle winds on this day filled in nicely to allow for Rachael's much anticipated first soaring flight. *(Thanks for the pic's, Dallen.)

Our launch went well, allowing for a smooth transition to the sky!

Soon we were looking down on launch from hundreds of feet over the imposing cliffs below.

After working some moderately strong thermals, the glass off began, resulting in some incredible views.

After nearly an hour and a half in the air, we began our descent and came in for a gentle wheel-landing.

Here is a short video I edited together from the flight. Enjoy!

Here is some time-lapsed video from three different locations during my December, 2010 trip to Hong Kong and China. The compression of time seems to convey the huge volume of people - 7 million people packed into Hong Kong, and 13 million in Shenzhen, China!
