The whole fam plus Aunt Amy & Grandpa Dave took the opportunity to travel to Sun Valley over the long July 4th weekend.
Keri and Dave performed as part of the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, directed by Craig Jessop, along with special guest Maureen McGovern at the Sun Valley Pavillion.
Sun Valley is as beautiful as I remember it being when Keri & I saw it over 20 years ago on a brief layover at the Hailey airport. Our hotel was not bad either - thanks to a reasonable group rate!
We spent part of the time swimming in the pool, going for a walk, playing frisbee, window shopping, or relaxing on the hotel grounds.
Ketchum and the entire valley has somehow managed to prevent any fast food franchises or big box stores from popping up anywhere. All of the shops, restaurants and businesses have an eclectic mom & pop flavor.
A hole in the wall place called Lefty's Bar & Grill had some great salads, sandwiches, burgers & "monkey fries!"
The laws in Idaho are certainly different from those in Utah!
We walked to church Sunday morning, about a half mile from the hotel.
The large congregation required overflow seating which took up the entire gym and up onto the stage!
Daytime temperatures were just over 80, but by showtime the air cooled down nicely.
The powerful patriotic performance was a fitting finish to a nice weekend in Sun Valley!
